U.S. Should Keep Tribal Rights-Of-Way Policy: Report

Law360 (May 16, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal report has recommended that Congress stick to its current policy of letting Indian tribes and energy companies negotiate the terms of energy rights of way on tribal land.

The U.S. Departments of Interior and Energy released the report Wednesday, advising that grants, expansions or renewals of energy rights of way on tribal lands continue to be based on terms negotiated between the two parties.
