Judge OKs Kirkland Fee Deal With Tropicana Lenders

Law360, New York (June 2, 2011, 3:38 PM EDT) -- A Delaware bankruptcy judge on Thursday approved a settlement between the secured lenders of reorganized debtor Tropicana Entertainment LLC and Kirkland & Ellis LLP over allegations that the firm charged $756,000 in unwarranted fees during the casino operator’s Chapter 11 case.

U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Kevin J. Carey signed off on the settlement, along with a similar deal with AlixPartners LLP, rebuffing an objection from Tropicana Las Vegas, a former affiliate of the reorganized debtors that emerged from the bankruptcy as a separate entity and has lodged...
