Jiau Says Shared Information Wasn't Material

Law360, New York (June 2, 2011, 7:11 PM EDT) -- A lawyer for former Primary Global Research LLC consultant Winifred Jiau said in opening arguments of an insider trading trial in New York on Thursday that tips her client gave hedge fund managers weren't illegal because they wouldn't have impacted stock prices.

Joanna C. Hendon of Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP told a jury that the former technology consultant had the misfortune of having fingers pointed at her amid a massive U.S. Department of Justice insider trading crackdown on hedge funds in 2010.
