Canadian Court Will Hear De Beers Price-Fixing Case

Law360, New York (June 3, 2011, 5:12 PM EDT) -- A British Columbia judge ruled Wednesday that her court had jurisdiction over a proposed class action accusing De Beers SA and others of conspiring to fix diamond prices at artificially high levels, allowing the case to move forward.

Madam Justice B.J. Brown's ruling, which said that plaintiff Michelle Fairhurst had adequately pled harm in British Columbia stemming from alleged wrongdoing by the defendants, means the case can advance in the Supreme Court of British Columbia.
