Consumer Claims Polaroid TVs Pose Fire Threat

Law360, New York (June 6, 2011, 7:50 PM EDT) -- A consumer launched a putative class action Monday against Polaroid Corp. in Minnesota federal court, claiming the company’s liquid crystal display TVs contain design flaws that cause them to break and in some cases smoke or catch fire.

Missouri woman Karen Hudson alleges defects in the electronic components in Polaroid’s LCD televisions cause the devices’ circuit boards to die and capacitors to overheat, causing the screens to black out and creating fire hazards.
