U.S. Movie Industry Plans Legal Onslaught Against Online File Sharers

Law360 (November 4, 2004, 12:00 AM EST) -- U.S. movie studios are expected to file a series of copyright infringement lawsuits on Thursday against computer users they say are illegally distributing films online, in a move that closely resembles the strategy employed by the recording industry.

Several media outlets reported that the movie industry is expected to launch a wave of lawsuits to protect its intellectual property rights, with an official announcement expected on Thursday.
