Mexico's Competition Regulator Stays $1B Telcel Fine

Law360, New York (June 7, 2011, 3:19 PM EDT) -- Mexico's competition authority said Friday it had stayed a $1 billion fine against the wireless unit of telecommunications giant America Movil SAB de CV while it reviews the company's challenge to the penalty for alleged monopolistic practices.

The Federal Competition Commission, or CFC, said in a brief statement Friday that it had taken the appeal under consideration and temporarily suspended the April 7 fine.

"The effects of the resolution issued by the full Federal Competition Commission on April 7, 2011, are suspended," the commission said....
