Motorola Exits Hopewell Smartphone Software Patent Suit

Law360, New York (June 8, 2011, 12:26 PM EDT) -- A Motorola Inc. unit on Tuesday became the latest electronics maker to settle a patent holder's Texas infringement suit over the double-clicking technology used in the Droid and Droid X smartphones and other popular mobile devices.

Plano, Texas-based Hopewell Culture & Design LLC lodged the suit in December, accusing almost a dozen companies of infringing one of its patents with software that lets users double click on content on their phones.
