Freescale Wants ITC Probe Against Funai, Others

Law360, New York (June 9, 2011, 8:22 PM EDT) -- Texas-based Freescale Semiconductor Inc. on Wednesday asked the U.S. International Trade Commission to investigate Japan's Funai Electric Ltd. and television parts manufacturers Zoran Corp. and Mediatek Inc. over imports of certain TV chips and circuits.

The semiconductor maker also filed a parallel suit in the Western District of Texas, naming just California-based Zoran and Taiwan-headquartered Mediatek.

The company's suit alleges that Mediatek’s MT5382 and MT8392 TV chips and circuits infringe on U.S. Patent Number 5,467,455, which covers integrated circuit system used in video players, hard drives...
