Senate Report May Raise Scrutiny Of War Zone Contractors

Law360, New York (June 10, 2011, 8:49 PM EDT) -- A recent U.S. Senate report urging the government to reconsider its nation-building effort in Afghanistan could spur increased scrutiny of government contractors working in the country in the near future, though procurement rules for war zone contracting are unlikely to change overnight, attorneys say.

Although the report — one of several recent documents targeting the federal government’s poor supervision of contractors in Afghanistan — contained broad calls to step up contractor oversight, putting any reforms into practice would be a piecemeal process, lawyers said.
