NRC Boss Slammed Over Nuclear Waste Safety Report

Law360, New York (June 10, 2011, 3:03 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's inspector general has criticized NRC Chairman Gregory Jaczko for his management tactics in killing a safety report on a long-planned nuclear waste dump, saying in a report made public Friday that the chairman withheld information from other commissioners.

The report from NRC Inspector General Hubert T. Bell addresses a 2010 directive issued by Jaczko, which used the Obama administration's FY 2011 budget request to justify canceling the safety report as part of the close-out of the Yucca Mountain license application review....
