Hispanic Farmers Seek Class Cert. In USDA Bias Action

Law360, New York (June 10, 2011, 10:00 PM EDT) -- Hispanic farmers accusing the U.S. Department of Agriculture of discriminating against them by offering them less favorable settlements in employment litigation asked a Washington federal judge Friday to certify their case as a class action.

The plaintiffs say the proposed class would be limited to Hispanic farmers who farmed between 1981 and 1996, and applied for USDA farm loan or loan servicing programs and have complained of discrimination.
