Supreme Court Won't Hear Steinbeck Copyright Suit

Law360, New York (June 13, 2011, 2:34 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday declined to hear a decadeslong contract fight over copyright control of John Steinbeck's literary works, leaving in place a ruling in favor of the estate of the author's third wife, Elaine Steinbeck.

The high court's decision was the second time it has declined to weigh in on the copyright termination dispute between Elaine Steinbeck's estate and John Steinbeck's son and granddaughter, having previously denied cert in a related case in 2009.
