Carnival Hit With Enviro, Nuisance Suit Over SC Ships

Law360, New York (June 13, 2011, 7:38 PM EDT) -- Several environmental groups and neighborhood associations sued Carnival Corp. in South Carolina state court Monday, alleging the company's cruise ships violate zoning laws and introduce invasive species and harmful chemicals into local waters.

Carnival's Fantasy ship releases pollutants into the water and air without the necessary state permits, according to a complaint filed by the Historic Ansonborough Neighborhood Association, the Charlestowne Neighborhood Association, the Coastal Conservation League and the Preservation Society of Charleston.
