AXA Says Suit Over Stolen Art Was Already Tossed

Law360, New York (June 13, 2011, 4:20 PM EDT) -- Attorneys for an AXA SA subsidiary and a group of art investors sparred before a New York state judge Monday over why a federal judge had tossed a similar suit over insurance coverage for artworks lost in a massive fraud.

AXA Art Insurance Corp. agreed to a stipulation dismissing the case, which was over the same claims, in federal court with prejudice because the parties had reached a settlement, according to Barry I. Slotnick of Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC, which represents Renaissance Art Investors LLC....
