FDA Tightens Rules For Sunscreen Label Claims

Law360, New York (June 14, 2011, 12:43 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration raised the bar for marketing sunscreens on Tuesday, rolling out new rules that tighten standards on how manufacturers label their products and prohibit claims that sunscreens are waterproof.

The new rules bring the nation’s sunscreen regulations up to date, using the latest scientific data and current safety standards to create new tests to measure sunscreen protection, according to the FDA.
