GAO Upholds $24B Humana Military Care Contract

Law360, New York (June 15, 2011, 7:43 PM EDT) -- Humana Inc. said Wednesday that the U.S. Government Accountability Office has upheld the Department of Defense’s decision to award the company a $23.5 billion contract to provide health insurance to troops and veterans in the South.

The GAO shot down a protest of the award filed by UnitedHealth Group Inc., leaving the TRICARE South Region contract in the hands of Humana Military Healthcare Services, according to the company.
