Texas House Passes Bill Limiting Damages Against TWIA

Law360, New York (June 15, 2011, 7:32 PM EDT) -- The Texas House of Representatives on Wednesday preliminarily passed a measure aimed at reforming the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association that includes a controversial prohibition on punitive damages in suits against the nonprofit insurer.

State representatives voted 99-41 in favor of House Bill 3, which would reform the government-established insurer for homeowners in hurricane-prone coastal areas.
