Skadden Replaces Orrick For MGA In Bratz IP Case

Law360, New York (June 16, 2011, 3:53 PM EDT) -- Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom LLP replaced Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP on Tuesday as counsel to MGA Entertainment Inc. in a lawsuit from a New York artist who claims MGA stole the idea for its Bratz dolls from his sketches.

Orrick asked to withdraw from the case in May, saying MGA owed it more than $1.2 million in unpaid legal fees and costs. Orrick's court filings painted a grim picture, and said that the nonpayment would likely lead to an arbitration action — in stark...
