House Passes Bill To Ease Offshore Drilling Review

Law360, New York (June 22, 2011, 9:17 PM EDT) -- The U.S. House of Representatives approved a bill Wednesday that would loosen standards for obtaining offshore drilling permits from the Environmental Protection Agency and open outer continental shelf lands to oil and gas exploration.

The House voted 253-166 in favor of H.R. 2021, the Jobs and Energy Permitting Act, with 23 Democrats joining all but two Republicans in supporting the legislation.
