Polish Telecom Fined €128M For Blocking Rivals

Law360, New York (June 22, 2011, 3:39 PM EDT) -- The European Commission said Wednesday it had fined telecom Telekomunikacja Polska SA nearly €128 million ($184 million) for abusing its dominant position in the Polish market for broadband Internet service. 

From August 2005 through October 2009, TP stopped or delayed would-be competitors from entering Polish broadband markets and deliberately stifled competition by placing obstacles in the way of prospective new market entrants, according to the commission.
