Dutch Lawmakers Pass Net Neutrality Bill

Law360, New York (June 22, 2011, 7:47 PM EDT) -- The Netherlands on Wednesday reportedly became the second country in the world to approve a net neutrality law banning mobile Internet service providers from charging more for certain services.

According to reports in the Dutch media, the law is the strongest net neutrality law on record and was passed by the country's Second Chamber over the opposition of telecommunications companies include Royal KPN NV.

The law still needs approval from the Dutch Senate, but that is considered to be a formality.
