ConvaTec Dodges Hollister Incontinence Device IP Suit

Law360, New York (June 23, 2011, 9:27 PM EDT) -- An Illinois federal judge on Tuesday dismissed all patent infringement claims against ConvaTec Inc. in a suit brought by Hollister Inc. over patents for a bowel management system used to treat critically ill patients.

U.S. District Judge Matthew F. Kennelly said Hollister misread a release agreement between ConvaTec and Zassi Holdings Inc. that protected ConvaTec from future patent infringement claims involving its bowel management and ostomy care products, which are used to manage bowel incontinence following colon procedures.
