Transocean, Maersk Continue Drilling IP Row After Trial

Law360, New York (June 23, 2011, 7:00 PM EDT) -- Transocean Offshore Deepwater Drilling Inc. fought back Thursday against Maersk Contractors USA Inc.'s challenge to its efforts to secure final judgment after a Texas federal jury found Maersk should pay $15 million for infringing two Transocean patents.

In April, the jury concluded that Maersk was liable for infringement because it sold a drilling rig that infringed the patents to Statoil Gulf of Mexico LLC, rejecting Maersk's contention that the patents were obvious. But the parties have continued their battle in post-trial motions.
