Judge Greenlights $6.8M State Farm Settlement

Law360, New York (May 24, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A state court judge has approved a $6.8 million settlement for a class action lawsuit brought on behalf of 12,000 policyholders who sued State Farm Florida Insurance Company to recover the costs of replacing screens damaged by hurricanes Wilma and Katrina.

Judge Victor Tobin of the Circuit Court of the 17th Judicial Circuit for Broward County, Florida signed a Final Judgment and Order of Final Approval on Tuesday, giving his blessing to a settlement deal whereby State Farm will establish a fund of $6,788,200 to pay...
