BSkyB Deal Faces Further Scrutiny

Law360 (May 24, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Britain's Department of Trade and Industry has decided to refer British Sky Broadcasting Group's stake in independent television broadcaster ITV to the country's Competition Commission in the face of widespread opposition to the deal due to competition concerns.

On Thursday, the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry sent the matter off to the competition authority, which will now investigate the antitrust implications of the transaction.
