Sony Accuses LG Of Ripping Off Blu-Ray Group

Law360, Los Angeles (June 29, 2011, 6:20 PM EDT) -- Sony Corp. filed a lawsuit Tuesday asking a California federal court to declare seven LG Electronics Inc. patents as invalid or unenforceable, saying LG breached confidentiality agreements by stealing information related to the patents.

Sony claims that LG signed the agreements in order to join a Blu-ray standards setting group, but stole information about the format it heard about in group meetings — and then included the technology it learned in its own patent applications.
