ThyssenKrupp Unit Can't Shake 1,400 Asbestos Suits

Law360, New York (June 29, 2011, 7:16 PM EDT) -- A Pennsylvania federal judge on Wednesday rejected ThyssenKrupp Budd Co.'s bid to toss more than 1,400 suits consolidated in multidistrict litigation accusing hundreds of companies of exposing consumers to products that allegedly caused their asbestos-related personal injuries.

U.S. District Judge Eduardo C. Robreno denied without prejudice more than 1,400 motions to dismiss that ThyssenKrupp filed in separate personal injury suits brought by individual plaintiffs in the Eastern District of Virginia and later consolidated into the MDL between 2006 and 2010.
