Sioux Falls Settles Sewer Overflow Suit for $2M

Law360, New York (June 30, 2011, 1:22 PM EDT) -- The city of Sioux Falls, S.D., agreed to pay nearly $2 million from its public insurance to settle a class action over property damage caused by a 2004 sewage overflow, ending seven years of litigation.

The $1.95 million settlement, reached late Monday after court-ordered mediation, will be distributed to pay for damage at 159 properties, and the money will be drawn from the South Dakota Public Assurance Alliance.
