Hearing On Trade Deals Nixed Amid GOP Boycott

Law360, New York (June 30, 2011, 5:17 PM EDT) -- The Senate Finance Committee on Thursday canceled a mock markup of bills to implement trade pacts with South Korea, Panama and Colombia amid a GOP boycott over efforts to package the deals with the extension of a worker assistance program.

Committee Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., said that ranking member Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, told him that no Republican members would attend, meaning the panel would not have a quorum and had to postpone the hearing.
