Microsoft, Google, AOL Sued Over Street-View Map Patent

Law360, Los Angeles (July 1, 2011, 7:20 PM EDT) -- Microsoft Corp., Google Inc. and AOL Inc. were sued Friday in a Delaware federal court by a technology company that alleges their websites and applications that use street-level digital maps infringe a patent.

Transcenic Inc. claims the companies are encroaching on the technology covered in U.S. Patent Number RE42,289 E by providing third-party access to mapping sites that employ systems for navigating street-level images. AOL subsidiary MapQuest Inc. is also named as a defendant in the complaint.
