Senate Proposal For Renewable Energy Gains Support

Law360, New York (May 25, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal energy proposal which would require utilities to supply 15% of electricity from renewable resources received support from nearly 200 corporations, trade associations and other groups on Friday.

Sen. Jeff Bingaman (D-N.M.), chairman of the Senate’s Energy & Natural Resources Committee, plans to offer an amendment regarding a national renewable portfolio standard, or RPS, when the Senate takes up energy legislation in June.
