SEC Investigates Dow Chemical Buyout Talks

Law360 (May 25, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission is reportedly investigating unusual trading activity involving Dow Chemical Co. related to accusations that two former top executives negotiated an unauthorized takeover of the company.

The SEC has sought information from Dow, former executives J. Pedro Reinhard and Romeo Kreinberg, and JPMorgan Chase regarding possible buyout talks that led to the dismissal of the executives, The New York Times reported. The inquiry may also include Dow's reported proposal to buy Du Pont for more than $40 billion, the report said....
