Astellas Settles Patent Suit Over Generic Adenoscan

Law360, Los Angeles (July 12, 2011, 5:49 PM EDT) -- Astellas Pharma US Inc. settled a lawsuit Monday in New Jersey that accused generics makers Sagent Pharmaceuticals Inc. and Strides Arcolab Ltd. of violating its patent covering pharmacologic stress agent Adenoscan.

It was not clear on Tuesday whether the settlement included a provision that would allow Sagent Strides LLC, a joint venture between the two defendant companies, to market and sell an Adenoscan generic under a license agreement — an arrangement Astellas has made with other generic-drug makers.

Terms of the deal were not immediately available on Tuesday and representatives for Astellas and Sagent Strides were not immediately available for comment....
