DirecTV Can't Beat Installers' FLSA Action

Law360, Washington (July 12, 2011, 6:03 PM EDT) -- DirecTV Inc. on Monday lost its bid to to dismiss the claims of a putative class of technicians who accuse the company of failing to pay them for all hours worked and improperly calculating overtime wages.

DirecTV and co-defendant JP&D Digital Satellite Systems Inc. had argued in a motion for partial summary judgment that the plaintiffs were independent contractors, not employees for the purposes of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
