E.U. Court Remands "Bud" Trademark Case Back To Finland's Supreme Court

Law360 (November 16, 2004, 12:00 AM EST) -- In the latest round of their decades-long, global battle over trademark rights to the “Bud” beer brand, the European Court of Justice has remanded a lawsuit between Czech brewery Budejovicky Budvar and U.S. beer giant Anheuser-Busch Ltd. back to a Finnish court.

In 2000, the Finnish Court of Appeals ordered Budejovicky Budvar to cease using the name "Budweiser" on its beer products in Finland. The Czech brewer appealed this ruling, and the case was referred by the Finnish Supreme Court to the European Court of Justice...
