DOD Audit Agency Sought Subpoena Power, POGO Says

Law360, New York (July 14, 2011, 8:52 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Defense's contract auditing agency sought subpoena power to aid its ability to review contracts and pursued efforts to expand a cap on contractors' salaries, according to a leaked email released Thursday by the Project on Government Oversight.

April Stephenson, who was removed in October 2009 as director of the Pentagon's defense contract audit agency after complaints of mismanagement, sent a Sept. 9, 2009, email to Shay Assad, director of the Pentagon's defense procurement and acquisition policy, detailing two legislative proposals.
