Pengo Settles US, Texas Radioactive Waste Claims

Law360, New York (July 15, 2011, 4:13 PM EDT) -- Oil well servicer Pengo Industries Inc. on Thursday agreed to pay nearly $1 million to settle claims against it in the U.S. and Texas' suit against a host of companies over three Superfund sites contaminated with radioactive waste.

Under the terms of the deal, Pengo will pay $815,000 to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and $81,500 to the state of Texas for cleanups of contaminated sites in the cities of Houston, Webster and Odessa that were owned by the GNI Group Ltd.
