Anadarko Loses Bid To Split Tronox Spinoff Suit

Law360, New York (July 19, 2011, 7:20 PM EDT) -- A New York bankruptcy judge on Tuesday denied Anadarko Petroleum Corp.'s request to hold separate trials on liability and damages in pigment maker Tronox Inc.'s lawsuit over a spinoff in which the company was allegedly stuck with billions of dollars in pollution claims.

Judge Allan Gropper told the parties that it likely would be impossible to separate liability from damages, given overlapping evidence and expert testimony, among other factors. A trial in the case is slated for April 2012.
