Jury Must Weigh Damages In AUO Price-Fixing Case: Judge

Law360, New York (July 20, 2011, 1:56 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge on Monday ruled prosecutors couldn't prevent a jury from determining the damages allegedly caused by AU Optronics Corp. in an alleged scheme to fix the prices of thin-film liquid crystal display panels.

U.S. District Judge Susan Illston denied a request by the government that would have split its case against AUO into distinct guilt and penalty phases, which would have left determination of the penalty in the hands of the judge.
