National Union Can't Sue Helicopter Cos. Over Crash: Judge

Law360, New York (July 20, 2011, 5:50 PM EDT) -- A Texas federal judge on Tuesday threw out a contribution claim by the National Union Fire Insurance Co. of Pittsburgh, Pa., against two helicopter companies over a deadly 2007 crash in Hawaii, ruling that Texas law governs the case and bars such claims.

U.S. District Judge Terry R. Means granted the defendants' motion for summary judgment on choice-of-law grounds, finding that Texan law, not Hawaiian, governs the case. He dismissed National Union's claims with prejudice.
