Baker & McKenzie Guides Ecolab In $5.4B Nalco Buy

Law360, New York (July 20, 2011, 1:16 PM EDT) -- Cleaning products and services provider Ecolab Inc. said Wednesday that it would buy water treatment company Nalco Holding Co. for $5.4 billion in an effort to boost its strength in the water-management sector.

The purchase agreement also calls for Ecolab to take on $2.7 billion of Nalco's debt, giving the transaction an overall value of $8.1 billion, the St. Paul, Minn.-based buyer said.
