NY Woman Challenges House Attys On DOMA Views

Law360, New York (July 20, 2011, 6:16 PM EDT) -- A New York woman suing over the Defense of Marriage Act asked a federal judge on Monday to force the congressional legal team backing the law to acknowledge what she considers some basic legal and historic facts of gay life.

Edith Windsor wants the U.S. House of Representatives' Bipartisan Legal Advisory Group to admit that if her wife, Thea Clara Spyer, had been married to a man instead of a woman, her estate would have qualified for the estate tax marital deduction, according to a motion....
