Judge Won't Split Trial In Milk Antitrust MDL

Law360, New York (July 20, 2011, 7:20 PM EDT) -- A Tennessee federal judge refused Wednesday to split a trial in the milk antitrust multidistrict litigation despite the defendants' claims that dealing with issues involving the geographic market at stake first would save time and money.

U.S. District Judge J. Ronnie Greer denied a motion from the remaining defendants — Dairy Farmers of America Inc. and National Dairy Holdings LP — to divide up the trial on claims from thousands of dairy farmers that the companies conspired to artificially depress the purchase price of milk....
