Heineken To Appeal €219.27M Price-Fixing Fine

Law360, New York (June 1, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Heineken NV said Friday that is planning to appeal an April European Commission ruling that found a group of brewers guilty of fixing Dutch beer prices and fined Heineken €219.27 million.

Europe’s competition watchdog set a new annual record for cartel fines when it fined the group of brewers, including Heineken, a collective €273 million for their anti-competitive behavior in the fixing of beer prices between 1996 and 1999, bringing the agency’s year-to-date cartel fine total to €2 billion.
