Auto-Owners Wants Off Hook For Trade Secrets Row

Law360, New York (July 25, 2011, 2:58 PM EDT) -- Auto-Owners Insurance Co. asked a Georgia federal court Friday to declare that it did not have to defend Smoky Mountain Water Inc. against claims that it stole trade secrets and meddled with contractual relationships by poaching a now-defunct competitor's customers.

Water supplier Smoky Mountains' general liability policy does not cover litigation over its solicitation of Cohutta Water Inc.'s customers after it went bankrupt, the declaratory judgment suit alleges.
