9th Circ. Won't Block Lake Tahoe Logging Project

Law360, New York (July 25, 2011, 9:58 PM EDT) -- The Ninth Circuit on Monday denied a bid to stop a U.S. Forest Service logging project in California's Lake Tahoe Basin that environmental groups say will destroy much of the habitat of the black-backed woodpecker.

The appeals court refused to grant a preliminary injunction pending appeal to the Earth Island Institute and the Center for Biological Diversity, two environmental groups that had sued the federal agency over its Angora Project in February.
