Franken Wants Regulators To Kill AT&T, T-Mobile Deal

Law360, New York (July 26, 2011, 10:30 PM EDT) -- Sen. Al Franken, D-Minn., a member of the Senate antitrust subcommittee, urged federal regulators Tuesday to reject AT&T Inc.'s $39 billion takeover of T-Mobile USA Inc. over his concerns that the merger would lead to higher consumer rates and less competition.

In a 24-page letter to Attorney General Eric Holder and the Federal Communications Commission chair dated Tuesday, Franken urged the U.S. Department of Justice and the FCC to kill a deal that he said would hamper competition in an already concentrated wireless communication market....
