Ipsos Buys Synovate From Aegis Group For $859M

Law360, New York (July 27, 2011, 12:05 PM EDT) -- Paris-based market research giant Ipsos SA said Wednesday it had reached an agreement to buy British communications company Aegis Group PLC's market research business Synovate for $859 million, a move the buyer said would make it a global powerhouse.

The purchase will create the world's third-largest market research company — behind only Nielsen Holdings NV and the WPP PLC-owned Kantar Group — and represents a transformational deal for Ipsos, the company said.
