UK Advertising Group Bans Retouched L'Oreal Ads

Law360, New York (July 28, 2011, 1:58 PM EDT) -- The U.K.'s advertising watchdog on Wednesday said two L'Oreal UK Ltd. advertisements featuring images of supermodel Christie Turlington and actress Julia Roberts were misleading due to excessive retouching of the photographs and could not run in their current form.

The Advertising Standards Authority found that the images ran afoul of Britain's advertising laws due to excessive digital alterations after launching investigations into the ads based on complaints lodged by Jo Swinson, a member of Parliament from the Liberal Democrat Party.
